The whole world right next door!
Bottrop’s children in black and white and without filters.
A visual statement against racism. Black & White. Real. No filters.
Bottrop is diverse. To mark the International Weeks Against Racism, I am creating a powerful photographic tribute to our city. My goal: One portrait for every nation represented here in Bottrop.
What is it about?
No fake smiles, no polish. I am looking for the real deal.
The Look: Expressive black-and-white portraits, dark clothing, simple background.
The Focus: Your child’s pure personality and eyes.
The Message: Different roots, equal value. We are the future of Bottrop.
Who am I looking for?
Age: about 5 to 10 years old.
Roots: Families living in Bottrop who want to represent their nation/heritage.
Inclusion: Every child is welcome – regardless of physical or mental abilities or health.
Cost: Participation and the photo session are completely free of charge.
How it works (Selection by Lottery)
Since I aim to photograph one child per nation, I will use a lottery system if there are multiple applications for the same country. This is not a beauty contest – every child is perfect! Your willingness to stand for diversity is what matters most.
Please note: As this is a public art project, both legal guardians must sign a consent form for the photos to be published (website, social media, exhibitions).
How to Apply
Apply by December 31, 2026, using the form below. No photo is needed in advance – appearance does not matter for the selection.
Flexible project period: We don't wait until the final deadline! As soon as five applications are received for a nation (but no earlier than May 15, 2026), the first selection will be made, the first photo session scheduled, and the first photos published.
My tip: Share this project within your communities and be the first nation to step in front of the camera!
